Dear Friends,
Please join us at the Greater Nashville Chinese Association’s annual Duanwu Festival picnic celebration
on Saturday, June 1 at 11am at Edwin Warner Park!
Duanwu Festival, also known as Dragon Boat Festival, is a traditional holiday in the lunar calendar
observed throughout China and much of Asia. Here at GNCA, the day has long been a time to gather
with friends, eat some delicious zongzi (sticky rice dumplings), and welcome the arrival of summer. June
1 st is Children’s Day in China, and in honor of the holiday we have prepared a number of fun activities for
families and children. We will also enjoy a special performance from the Singing Goslings, last seen at
our 2019 Chinese New Year’s Gala.
Additionally, as part of our efforts to strengthen ties with the broader Middle Tennessee community, we
are pleased to welcome a representative from Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, who will
answer our community’s particular concerns about public safety and related issues.
Finally, we are still looking for a few more high school volunteers to help with the event; you can sign up
directly. For any other questions, please contact us at gncaevent@gmail.com.
